THIS AIN'T SIBERIA------

BUT IS IS ALMOST AS COLD, I'LL BET. WHAT APPEARS TO BE SNOW IS FROZEN SOLID SO THAT I CAN WALK ON IT WITHOUT PENETRATING IT. THE FOOTPRINTS WERE THERE BEFORE THE DEEP FREEZE.

THE NEXT PICTURE IS NOT AS CLEAR, BUT HAS A STORY. WHEN THE OIL MAN STUCK THE BILL NEXT TO THE FRONT DOOR, I HAD TO PUT ON MY BOOTS AND GO THROUGH THE SNOW TO GET IT, AND I DIDN'T LIKE IT. I FIGURED THAT WHILE I'M THERE, I'LL SHOVEL THE SNOW AWAY FROM THE FRONT DOOR BECAUSE IT LOOKED A LITTLE HIGH. TURNED OUT THE SNOW HAD BECOME A SOLID BLOCK OF ICE AND IF WE HAD FOUND IT NECESSARY TO GO OUT THAT WAY IN A FIRE, THE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED. I FELT LIKE THE ICEMAN HACKING AWAY AT THAT ICY MASS AND THROWING IT OFF THE STEPS IN BLOCKS. THE OIL MAN HAD POINTED OUT A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

A late Christmas present

This was the christmas present I sent to Grandma and Grandpa. I found some old photos and got the idea for a great gift.
I was actually thinking about doing one for Sonny Jones when I heard the news, so if anyone was any photos of birdface let me know. -Rita, Im sure you have quite a few, so just send them to me.

Sonny Jones, Angel of Mercy

Sonny Jones, Angel of Mercy (AOM), joined all her friends in heaven on January 26, 2007. AOM enjoyed 14 years of good health, unbridled affection, and about as many cookies as any hound could handle. We should all have a life like hers! She enjoyed long walks, quiet evenings at home, and occasionally a bit of rump-biting...sort of like the single crowd here in Atlanta! AOM (aka "Birdface") was sort of a New Englander at heart -- she wasn't prone to needless wagging and didn't need validation from strangers (not like those needy laborador retrievers and people from California)...no, AOM, was very reserved until she knew you well. Once you were part of the inner circle, she was extremely loyal. I loved that about her. She would never run away from home or jump into someone else's car. Such a sensible girl.

After 14 years together -- through a divorce, dissertation, and multiple moves around the country -- I can honestly say that Sonny was my best friend. Sure, she bit a few repairmen and a couple of landlords (they probably provoked her), but she was always a loving friend and companion to me, even when I didn't deserve it. Like any good friend, Sonny reminded me of something: although we all bite sometimes, we can still try to love people with all our hearts, even when they don't deserve it.

DARN THAT NOONSKI!

NOONSKI MIGHT NOT KNOW HOW TO DO SOMETHING USEFUL, BUT HE EXCELS AT THE TRIVIAL. HERE'S MOE MODELING AN EXAMPLE OF NOONSKI'S CREATIVITY, TO SAY NOTHING OF HIS INTEREST IN TRYING TO SAVE A BUCK. DARNING THE HOLE IN THE MITTEN SAVED A FEW DOLLARS WHICH ENABLED NOONSKI TO INVEST IN THE LOTTO, WHICH MOST PEOPLE AGREE WOULD BE A GOOD THING TO WIN. YOU WILL BE HEARING FROM NOONSKI AGAIN, UNLESS, OF COURSE, HE DOES HIT THE LOTTERY,

WE'RE TALKIN' COLD

NEXT TIME YOU ARE SAYING HOW MUCH YOU LIKE THE CHANGING SEASONS, TAKE A LOOK AT NOONSKI'S THERMOMETER ON A FEBRUARY MORN. A FEW WEEKS AGO, IT WAS 50 DEGREES HIGHER, AND WE WERE ALREADY RUMMAGING FOR BEACH TOWELS, SUN SCREENS AND THE LIKE.

PROVERBS: TIME HONORED TRUTHS.....

I HAVE A LITTLE BOOK OF NATIVE AMERICAN PROVERBS WRITTEN BY
GUY A. ZONA. PROVERBS ARE THE EXPERIENCE AND COLLECTED WISDOM OF A PEOPLE.
THEY
ARE USED TO INSTRUCT MEMBERS OF THAT CULTURE IN RULES OF CONDUCT AND
BEHAVIOR.
FOR EXAMPLE:
-JUDGE NOT BY THE EYE, BUT THE HEART. (CHEYENNE)
-BE KIND TO EVERYTHING THAT LIVES. (OMAHA)
-THERE IS NO DEATH, ONLY A CHANGE OF WORLDS. (DUWAMISH)
-DON'T LET YESTERDAY USE UP TOO MUCH OF TODAY,
(CHEROKEE)
-WHAT IS PAST ...... SHOULD NOT BE GRIEVED FOR.
(PAWNEE)
-NEVER HELP A PERSON WHO DOESN'T HELP ANYVBODY ELSE.
(HOPI)
-ONE FINGER CANNOT LIFT A PEBBLE. )HOPI)
-THOSE WHO LIE DOWN WITH DOGS GET UP WITH FLEAS.
(BLACKFOOT)
-WE WILL BE KNOWN FOREVER BY THE TRACKS WE LEAVE.
