BOSS HAWK
Peggy put some hot dog pieces in the yard for our Crows. This guy ran them off and took as long as he wanted to eat all the pieces. He didn't mind our coming out on the porch to watch. He ignored the protests of the Crows and went right on eating. Usually, we see crows chase the hawk away fro the neighborhood.

I was promoted to Camera Operator at the Georgia Dome this Falcons season. Here's a picture of me working the RF (radio frequency) camera. I was trying to put uncle Pat on the jumbo screen, but the director didn't take my shot because Mikayla was wearing a New York jersey. Still, Pat got a good shot of me trying to get a shot of him. Ha!
I'm next working at the Dome for the Falcons playoff game on the 13th. Hopefully they will take home a victory so that I can get more work!

A FRIEND IN A HIGH PLACE
There was a time when we were very active socially. We went to numerous parties, or hosted them ourselves. One of the parties is memorable. It was at the home of a musician who was a very funny guy. I guess he had funny friends, although the temptation to attribute credit for the following is tempting, it is not proveable.
Upon arriving at somebody's home for a party, everybody threw hats and coats on a bed. After throwing our coats on a bed, I noticed a framed picture of Christ on a bureau. This was no ordinary picture of Christ: it was autographed as follows:
"BEST OF LUCK, J.C."

FOR FAMILY HISTORIANS
Here's the ship in dry dock for repairs. Now and then, the ship has to go in a floating dry dock to scrape barnacles off the hull and paint the hull with red lead paint to protect it from further attacks by sea worms which bore into the wooden structure. When in dry dock, it's all hands over the side to do the work as quickly as possible so other ships
can use the facility. Even the Captain has to take part in the work in dry dock.
Also, I am posing on our main battery, a three inch fifty it was called. It fired a twelve pound projectile which was 3 inches in diameter---like a big bullet. When we fired that thing the sound was ear splitting. Maybe that's why I have had right ear problems all these
years.
My actual general quarters assignment was sightsetter on this gun. I have written, elsewhere, of my first, and hilarious performance in that role.
BOB, THE CHOIR BOY?
You won't think so after reading this. In the event that you haven't seen this article in our old family newsletter, it was resurrected to see if my scanner is finally working. I've been working on that $^$_)(%$# scanner for a week, and it finally began to scan again---before I changed the scannee to a more politically acceptable selection. In any event, there goes my image.
