PENINSULA, OHIO

Peninsula seems to be sort of a Mecca for bikers, hikers, and from what we saw, diners. They even have a scenic railway which runs to Akron. A beehive! Plan to go there next time you get to Betsy and nCharley's.

You have to see this place to appeciate what Ernest Warther--with a 7th grade education, achieved in
the train models he carved. Engineers studying plans for these engines can find no error in the reproductions.
Lincoln is in his coffin in his funeral train model.(upper right
Some moels contain 8,000 hand carved parts. Warther even invented and built his own carving knives, Warther knives are manufactured there to this day, and are for sale. Dover is south of Canton--about 20 miles.

Ceramics to Electronics

I've been going to Alfred University for ceramics until recently I've found an interest in video. Its been an experiment but here are some works I've made: Emily's Vimeo Website.

Some are sketches, some finished, and some are more new. This up coming year I hope to make work that is more collaborative with an easily followable narrative.

FUN AT THE HAIRDRESSER's

I was taking my ease in the waitiing area of the hairdresser when Moe and the young woman operator appeared before me. I doffed my hat(means I took it off) and asked the young woman if she could do anything with my hair. "I could give you a shave," Very funny!
I pointed to a large poster of a young guy and asked: "What would it take to make me look n like that guy?"
"Surgery."

WHO'S THAT KNOCKIN' ON MY DOOR?

When I am a trifle tardy in throwing bread out the door in the morning, this sqirrel sits on the railing looking into the kitchen. He listens as I talk nonsense to him, allows me to come within a few feet of him and finally moves to the landing afrea where the bread will fall. Is this animal intelligence

, or what?
