F.H.B...on the................
You are hosting guests for a meal. You discover, to your horror, that you don't have enough of something. The hostess calls out the warning:FHB on the meatloaf, or potatoes, or bread, or something of which there is not enough---This translates into FAMILY HOLD BACK ON THE----whatever. Don't seem to hear this expression anymore.
My grandmother had a non-verbal means of saying FHB, she would silently kick me under the table. I understood.
