IT HAPPENS, YES IT HAPPENS
every Spring. That's what the song says, and that's what the crocuses, (singular crocus) do to announce the approaching season. Somebody once asked, "If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?"
The crocuses sprouted at least a week ago, so I am a little late. By the way, I had been mis-spelling the plural for a lifetime. I finally looked in my old dictionary.

Dad said he has always mis-spelled the plural of crocus. On that line, here is my new favorite word, correct spelling and all!-Schadenfreude, a word of German origin, means: enjoyment derived from the misfortunes of others. All these years I never knew there was a word for such a common emotion! --Peggy
