VETERANS DAY

Noonski has noted that WWII ended 60 years ago. Wow. When the history teacher at EHS got to WWII, he would call in Noonski to describe his part in the fray. After a few years, Noonski didn't get invited anymore. When Noonski asked the history teacher why the annual invitation had been discontinued, he was told, "Every year your role got more important, and MacArthur's got less." I suppose there was some exageration on Noonski's part, but come on. (this assumes this generation has heard of General Douglas MacArthur, who headed up the Pacific campaign.) I'm trying to add a link which will take you to Noonski's account of the battle for Okinawa. Somewhere in the same site there is an anonymous poem dedicated to YMS experience. Noonski did not write the poem but did submit it to the webmaster.

Comments:
Happy Veterans Day Dad! I know it was a traumatic time to live through, but you should be proud of what your generation accomplished. You and your generation gave more to this country than we can ever re-pay.

thanks for the good work pops! your stories will be valuable to the next generation of noonan's, otherwise they may forget.
