THE FOOTNOTES

After months of trying to regain access to the controls of the first blog, your author has opted to start a new blog and take up where he left off. The original blog will remain available to interested members who are still able to access it. Maybe when blogger converts all blogs to the new Beta format, the missing controls on that one will be restored. Invitations will be extended to members of the original blog to join this one. So there will be two blogs.

You will note the new blog name. It comes from a name Grace assigned to Moe. It gives no clue to outsiders who might be interested in knowing its origins. In addition, it reflects our current perception of our place in the scheme of things. This can be a place of relative privacy in communicating with the clan members. We hope it will be used.

The renovation of the old place will begin in earnest next week. The contractor already has replaced a window. The front door will be next, then the big stuff.

Something in the foregoing reminded me of the joke about a guy's musical background: Somebody asked the guy if he had had any musical experience. He replied, "There was a big flood in our town one time. Our house was washed away. My father went down the river on the kitchen table, and I accompanied him on the piano."
