JACK's OLD HOUSE
My brother Jack, and his wife, Pat, (Cleo} moved into this house on Old Dobson Road in Vernon, in 1946, or thereabouts. I'm not sure how long ago they moved out. A recent fire has destroyed the building.
In looking at the mess, I pondered the mystery of whether an event such as this could even have been conceived of 60 years ago. We really can't look down the road very far. Maybe it is just as well.

ANOTHER BIRTHDAY LUNCH
Old Bob had another birthday celebration today. Moe, Mara, Peggy, Bob and Old Bob went to a favorite place, Stoggy Hollow---I think it is in Woodstock. This place is one of a kind. It's way off the beaten path in beautiful Eastern Connecticut. Until recently, if you chose to sit on the porch for your meal, you might be joined by an occasional chicken or dog roaming among the tables.I think the authorities put a stop to that quaint practice. As usual, the meals were good. and we followed up by driving to another favorite spot called We Like It, for ice cream that rivals UCONN's renown products.
The Ice cream place is way in the sticks, too, but people are willing to travel get there. We had to wait in a long, slow line. It was worth it.
It was a nice day, and makes Old Bob want to plan for more birthdays more often.
