DON'T YOU WISH.......

That you were living in Connecticut in the Winter? Here's a reminder of what you are fortunate to be missing. With a Nor'easter headed here tonight, we will have more of the same.

As a sidelight, I read recently that there is a trend for retirees to head North instead of South in retirement. I had a friend who died several years ago who was the only one I ever heard of who expressed that sentiment. Maybe he was on to something ahead of his time.

NEW FRIENDS

We have two new friends thanks to Max. They are Francisco and Walter. Francisco was born in Mexico and came to California at age seven. Walter is from South Bombay, India. They and Max are all PhD candidates at UCONN

We had a Christmas Dinner with them and Peggy today. Moe produced another great meal. Peggy contributed her specialty, Broccoli casserole. Afterward, we watched High Anxiety. It was interesting to me to note that although we from widely spaced places on the globe, we all laughed at the same things, and our table conversation was varied and entertaining.

I couldn't help but think about something I used to hear about in church a long time ago.

A man was having a wedding reception for his daughter, and when invited guests didn't appear, he went out on the highways and byways and brought in people who did. It was a great day for us.

OUTTAKES

The highly polished, professional level films we are producing do not happen by happenstance, whatever that is. No, sometimes there are little segments which might not be of broadcast quality. We offer one such segment to reaffirm that even our competent crew has momentary letdowns: observe--

GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS PAST

Here's one you don't want to miss. It was Atlanta, 2005. Despite what you might be thinking, there had not been any drinking. In the back row, Matt, Paul and Amanda. In the front, Noonski, Rita and Moe in festive spirits.

PUZZLES ARE NOT A PUZZLE

Here's Moe with another puzzle. She's really good at recognizing the relationships among and between the pieces. Another will be on the board shortly

What were they thinking?

As promised, here is Joey's first photo with Santa. He didn't seem too impressed.
I would like to make this a Christmas card, but haven't figured out what it should say. For this reason, I'm inviting you participate in a little contest.
If you can come up with the winning phrase, quote, or 'tag line' for this photo I will give you a $20 gift card.
So far the entries are:
1) "I didn't know Santa was fixed!"
2) Santa's my new bitch
3) "Oops, I know one package Santa won't be delivering this year!"
Merry Christmas!

IT AIN'T RAIN ON THE ROOF

It's snow, and it is about a foot deep. It is also heavy. I use a plastic snow shovel to push the stuff off the car. It is the blue object you see there. In the meantime, my hands are wet and frozen. I say the same thing everytime, "What the hell am I doing living here?"

HAVE A NICE DAY

Here's how it looked out the back door this afternoon. The snow started around 11 a.m and is expected to last until 7 or 8 tonight. Hope our plow guy still has us on his list.

MOE, THE PUZZLE SOLVER

Here is the latest completed puzzle. There was a time when we only worked on jigsaw puzzles when we were sick. Now, we solve them for fun.

A GREAT REUBEN RECIPE

Wake up those tired taste buds. Amaze your friends with your culinary magic. This is a treat--try it.

It came from a friend with whom Noonski served on a Board of Directors. He would bring a bunch of Reubens to the meeting and during a break, everybody got a gustorial treat. Noonski hounded him for the recipe, and here it is.

Here is a recent picture of Joey, one of the most laid-back, sweet, and obedient dogs I've ever known. Paul nicely summarized the difference between Sonny Jones and Joey: Sonny J. was a New Yorker, brash, pushy, and wasn't afraid to bite; Joey is Midwestern, easy-going, likeable, and blends into any social grouping. Very different dogs, but both completely adorable. Coming to the blog soon: Joey's picture with Santa!

THE NEW US

The big bedroom upstairs is undergoing a transformation. It has not looked so orderly since the house was built. Noonski took advantage of the confluence of several factors in this instance. The room looks as though somebody lives here, and the new 7.2 digital camera needed to be tried. Behold the pleasant outcome.
